Bidding
Bidding and buying on this platform is free. Only registrated users,
who are logged in to our system, can place bids. When a bid is placed,
the time of our server is crucial.
Online-Angebot
Already on our starting page you can find listings of auctions and classified
ads. In the gallery section, gallery listings are displayed by random
selection. Below there are the Home Page Featured listings. On our starting
page, you can also search for auctions, users or keywords.
By the menu items "Browse" or "Categories" you move
into the individual sales categories.
In each category the listings are displayed in an tabular overview. The
display order (ranking) is determined by the end of auction. This means,
that the listings, that end sooner, are shown on top of the list . Featured
items are displayed on top of the list, the standard items follow at the
bottom.
By default, the list is not filtered ("show: current"). You
can filter the list by clicking "show" and one of the following
links:
- current - By default, displays all offers (listings).
- gallery - displays only listings with the option "gallery".
- new today - displays all the new listings of the day.
- ending today - displays all listings, which end today.
- going, going, gone - displays all the listings ending soon.
- completed -display all the listings, which were completed in
the last 30 days.
By clicking on the title of a listing you get to the detailed description
of the offer.
Detailed description
On the top left you can find all the necessary information for bidding:
- Listing Format
- Current price (and possibly infos about the reserve price or "buy
now")
- Starting bid (starting price of an auction)
- Shipping Cost (usually paid by the buyer)
- # of bids (number od bids) and possibly the bid history (Only users
who have already submitted a bid at this auction can also open the bid
history and view the username, amount and date of other bids.)
- Closes (remaining time until the end of the auction)
- Location (location of the seller)
- Started (beginning of the auction)
- Ends (end of the auction)
- Seller (User name of the seller and behind it in parentheses the number
of his positive feedbacks)
- View seller's other items (A link that leads to the other listings
of the seller)
- High Bidder(s) (User name of the highest bidder and behind it in parentheses
the number of his positive feedbacks)
Below you have the chance to ask the seller questions about the
object. These questions and the answers are public and are displayed at
the auction.
The auction can also be communicated to acquaintances and friends (Link
"Mail this auction to a friend!").
"Watch this item!" offers the possibility to add the
listing to your watch list. Under the main menu item "My Account"
you will easily find the these shortlisted auctions again.
In addition to this data area, may be an image is displayed, which can
be enlarged. If there are more pictures, you can replace the image displayed
by clicking on the thumbnail images below.
Subsequently, a more or less detailed description of the listings is
displayed, followed by instructions for payment details.
Bidding
Now at last comes the opportunity to make a bid. At first, the current
bid and the bid increment (depending on the current price) is shown, followed
by the input field for the maximum bid and the button to submit your bid.
If you submit the minimum bid as indicated, it does not mean that you
automatically become the highest bidder. It challenges the current high
bidder to go to the next bid level by comparing the amount you entered
with his maximum bid. The system automatically increases the bids to the
next lowest price.
The minimum bid is, therefore, the amount to be entered be at least. Of
course you can enter a bid higher than the minimum bid - your personal
maximum bid. Brieftauben-Auktion.de will bid incrementally for until your
maximum bid is reached or the auction ends. Your maximum bid is kept a
secret from other users.
Important: The bidding is done in two steps:
- Step 1: type in your bid and submit it (Note:
Use always the COMMA (,) as decimal separator!) For example:
20,50
- Step 2: confirm your bid (as shown) or abort bidding
You will immediately receive a message, whether you are high bidder or
not. At the same time the system sends an e-mail to you with your maximum
bid. Also, the seller is notified of your bid by email.
Questions that may occur while bidding:
- Why does the auction system loose my username after a successful login
(and asks for a new login)?
- How can you take back an incorrect bid?
- What is the reserve price?
- How can I contact the seller?
- Can the seller stop the auction before the end date?
- Why the duration of an auction is extended?
- My user account is blocked - why?
Acceptance and settlement
While you are bidding, our system will inform you by email, if you are
the high bidder or if somebody bids more than you. After the expiry of
a listing, the seller and the buyer receive an email from the system with
the address and email adress of the opposite party. You should contact
each other as quick as possible, to carry out the legally binding purchase
contract. It is reasonable to wait three days for a response (after that
waiting time you should inform Brieftauben-Auktion).
It is common practice, that the price and shipping costs are paid by the
buyer in advance, before the sold objects are shipped. If you buy more
than one object from one seller, the objects can be shipped in one delivery
to save costs. It is up to the buyer to organize the shipping himself.
Feedback
After completing the transaction, the seller and buyer can evaluate each
other by the "feedback" function, which can be found under "My
Account". Please read our information
